Handsome and Practical but Repairs Required

We bought this refrigerator about three years ago when we moved to a new house. It looks great and has the features we wanted but the freezer door has locked in a half-open position three times now requiring replacement parts once and service the next time. Now on the third round I am waiting to try out a defrost solution proposed by LG but the entire refrigerator has to be shut down for 8 hours so requires some planning. Not an experience that would cause me to rate this unit highly despite many good features.

Refrigerator Excellent Ice Maker a Problem

This is the second one of this model Ive purchased first one stayed with house I sold. After a few months of use the freezer started frosting up around ice maker. Then I realized I never used ice maker in first one because no water connection. Defrosted multiple times then called for service. They sent me an idiot link on how to defrost the freezer. Sent in service request again through online app three days ago. Hoping for response in next day or so.

About 8 months after purchasing the LG counter depth French door refrigerator..problems began. After 4 service visits LG deemed it unrepairable and opted to replace it. That model was no longer in stock..so a check was issued. I wont get into the money lost in spoiled food or inconvenience of waiting for repairs. To LGs credit they did reimburse me for the lemon..and I have the same model in our summer home that has performed flawlessly for over 5 yrs.

Attractive fridge

Well its actually a great fridge however the plastic piece on the bottom of the door which keeps the door closed snapped and flew out into the floor. So if you close the left side door the right side comes open. Submitted a request for repair and have been told to resubmit the request with proof of purchase which was included in my original request for service. Was also asked for more photos of the issue but there is nowhere to upload more than one photo and that one photo was my proof of purchase. Not sure where we go from here. The fridge is in our rv which we took delivery of in January but we purchased it in October 2022 after our previous one was destroyed in hurricane Ian. So we have only been using this fridge for just under 4 months. Its honestly a great fridge. We had one in our previos RV as well and loved it. The only complaint we have is that the ice maker is not super quick at making ice even with the Ice plus function on. I would recommend this appliance but not sure about the warranty service at this point. This is why I have given 3 stars. We just want it fixed and because we purchased it in October I would imagine the warranty will be expired this October before we return to Florida in November. Just very disappointed in LG at this time. Its not a cheap appliance and having a repair person come out will not be a cheap fix for us if the warranty is out of date.

Great Refridg...but has icemaker issues

Ive owned this refridge for about 2.5 yrs now....we had brin ice buildup on the back wall of the freezer compartment and icemaker issues since the very beginning. LG has been great to work with trying to determine the problem...mostly all paid for by LG. Now after 2.5 yrs and more icemaker problems LG has decided to refund my money...minus a little depreciation. I was surprised The Refridge works great so I thought they might just replace my icemaker....but I live in a remote area of Virginia and there are no LG Service companies anywhere close... I may still buy another LG refridge...just because LG has tried hard to solve the problem. I have several other LG products in my home and havent had any problems with them.

NOT HAPPY WITH PRODUCT

I bought this refrigerator 14 months ago the top refrigerator part stop cooling. So I went to the owners manual in trouble shooting. First it has a LG Thin Q application that you can communicate with a Smart Phone. I installed the App and it is no longer an active App. The code that is showing on the fridge FF E this code is not in the manual. Then look for a warranty phone #1-800-243-0000 unable to connect to a live person tried calling again the person that answered said it was passed the one year warranty and I would have to call a repair person. The repair person came and replaced a part and said to give it a few hours to get cold. Fridge did not get cold and the code came back. Called repair person back and He ordered another part. By this time it has been 13 days and not repaired. Customer Service with LG Electronics has been the worst. I am not getting any satisfaction from this company.

This refrigerator is 2 cubic feet smaller than the one we replaced so its taken some getting used to as far as placing things in consistent locations goes. We will adjust to that over time. The one concern I have after a couple months of use is the ice maker. It frosts over pretty heavily on a consistent basis and also has a very slow ice production rate. If this is a problem that has been encountered by others and a fix is known Id surely like to hear what the fix is.

Twice the interior space of our old side-by-side.

Interior lay out of the fridge is fantastic. Shelves and trays are strong. Doors are solid. Stainless finish is completely finger print free. The door closing mechanisms for the right hand fridge and the freezer are a bit touchy. A small plastic part that holds the right fridge door closed needed replacement at eight months. The LED displays the thermostats setting not the fridge or freezers actual temperature. Thus if the compressor or condenser were malfunctioning or the cooling fins icing up the owner would have no advance warning. It would be easy and inexpensive for LG to add fridge and freezer LED temperature displays and I strongly recommend it.

Looks nice but needs more flexible shelving

I bought this refrigerator after our 17 year-old Sears 22 cu. ft. model dies twice in 2 weeks. We have a center island and thought the two top doors would give us more clearance which it does. The device keeps items at the desired temperatures and the outer surface looks nice after removing all the shrink-wrap that encased it. Major disadvantage is the inability to adjust door shelves to accommodate different size items. Only one door shelf can be adjusted. The depth of the door shelves also requires some gymnastics to get at items. Also I was unable to get the connection to my cell phone to work. Otherwise it is satisfactory.

Bad Freezer Condenser

I bought a brand new unit back on 8/8/22. Mid December everything in the freezer melted I called LG and they did send out a repairman within 3 days and he determined that the condenser was bad. He received the part in 7 days and replaced it. LG also paid me a flat $200 for spoiled food in freezer. It certainly didnt cover the cost of my COSTCO Filet Mingons but it was a decent olive branch.

Great kitchen upgrade

Replaced a 20 year old fridge with a new LG. Very happy with the purchase. Have a LG front load washer and no issues in 8 years with it. Only shopped LG when looking to upgrade appliances for this reason. LG offers great value and got a really good deal at my local Lowes. Bought a new LG stove at the same time.

I had issues with my refrigerator so I purchased a new LG model. I had a problem with the handle so I called LG and explained my problem they promptly sent me a new handle. My new refrigerator works great and I am noticing how much more room I have inside compared to my old refrigerator which is the same size. Very pleased.

Big enough

Had it for a couple months now. Thought it might not be large enough but with the door storage it seems to be plenty big. And I really dont like a water dispenser so this is simple with a good ice maker.

I am not happy because one month after I purchased it the right side door did not close properly three months later the freezer door got stacked so I defrosted it and put some grease on the rails.Also after one year and one month the freezer evaporator fan was broken.

This refrigerator has not frozen my lettuce and seems to hold temps well. It is a loud bugger at times. I hear it about one a day and it lasts for about a minute. It starts off as a rattle and builds to an annoying buzz that sounds rather like an alarm clock. I took a video recording while it was happening. The ice maker was off and it is not hooked up to a water supply at all. I removed everything from the refrigerator to test to see if it was bottles or cans vibrating inside though the noise was less noticeable with the fridge door open than closed. Even empty the refrigerator make the noise. I called for service under the warranty and unfortunately we could not make it happen while the tech was here. The tech added some extra foam in the back in hopes of stopping the buzz. It has seemed less frequent and or a little bit quieter since then but I have still heard the refrigerator make that noise. This would be the perfect refrigerator except for that loud buzz.

We had this fridge installed at the end of December and I would say we love it except that the freezer immediately filled with frost. We have to do a full defrost/turn fridge off for 24 hrs to troubleshoot and with young kids we havent found a convenient time to do this yet. Hoping after the defrost is done all will be working properly but definitely a bummer to have to troubleshoot so early in the game P

Too soon for a breakdown

I purchased a LG because of its reputation. Appliances do not last the way they used to however my brand new like Refrigerator is already malfunctioning. The ice maker stopped functioning properly. Of course it is out of warranty why only a 1 year warranty? I am disappointed.

Freezer Failed but Quality Service/Warranty

My wife and I bought this product in November of 2020. Its the best value product for these specs. Overall I love the product and features - counter-depth stainless exterior energy star etc. I also like how clean/crisp the exterior looks without the water/ice dispenser. Unfortunately the freezer stopped working after 2 years. LG stood by their warranty so they get 3 stars - otherwise I would have rated lower.

Nice counter depth refrigerator with good storage

Like this refrigerator and hoping it will last as long as our prior GE fridge which was 30+ years old. Nicely designed storage and finger print proof stainless steel front. Wish the sides of the fridge are stainless steel too. Sides are some gray metal. Also our bottom freezer cant stay open without me holding the door otherwise it will side back in to close. Time will tell how much we love this fridge.

Bought this refrigerator and it died after 18 months. LG could not find anyone in the Jackson TN area to work on it. After hours on the phone I was promised a refund but it took 4 months to get it. It was a most stressful experience. LG should not sell appliances in areas with no repairmen. I wont be buying anything LG again.

It does what I wanted it to do

This fridge does its job. It keeps the food cold. I has taken a while to get used to the two doors on top. I usually keep some things on one side or the other to avoid having to open both doors. It has has also taken a while to get used to the freezer part. Overall I like the fridge. Grateful it is not so deep.

LG 23 Cu Ft French Door Counter Depth Refrigerator

We bought this just after Thanksgiving and its wonderful. We replaced a side by side because we needed more space and this offers so much more room. We read the Consumer Reports rating before we bought it and the only ding was said to be the veggie crisper. We have not experienced any issues with that yet. We highly recommend this unit.

What I like about this refrigerator is that this countertop model is not so deep that things get lost in it. When you open the doors you can easily see whats there. The temperature read-out confirms that food is at the ideal temperature for storage. The bottom freezer has ample room for larger cuts of meat and frozen casseroles. The ice maker works automatically and ice is plentiful.

Love the counter depth

This refrigerator is great It is counter depth but wide so it is easy to see everything on the shelves. The doors have huge shelves to easily store and organize condiments. There is a small ice maker if you choose to hook it up. Im not a big fan of drawer freezers but this one is the easiest to organize that Ive seen.

French Door with Doors that Swing TOO FAR

I bought this fridge a month ago and love its capacity and ice maker. However I am very disappointed that the doors swing open too wide. I bought a counter-depth fridge to be able to have a depth of the counters for a built in look however the fridge doors open too wide and would be damaged by the sides of the cabinets. After research I discovered that many other brands of fridges allow the opening width of the fridge doors to be adjusted to an angle that would prevent the fridge door from hitting the cabinet frame or wall if the fridge is located by a wall. Contacted LG to see if there is a stopper to place on fridge to prevent opening too wide however LG informed me that their fridges cannot be adjusted. Very disappointed that other brands offer this option yet LG does not. I would have purchased another brand and should have not assumed just because a refrigerator is advertised as counter-depth that the door will not swing open enough to hit cabinets or doors located beside it which could damage the stainless steel doors. A very costly mistake on my part. A design flaw that other manufacturers have recognized in counter-depth fridges that LG unfortunately has not. The number of years and popularity of counter-depth fridges has been long enough that LG should have made adjustments to their fridges regarding this design flaw.

I chose this fridge because I wanted simplicity after owning another brand of fridge whose ice dispenser stopped working after 5 years and whose condenser died after not even 10. I havent had my LG long enough to testify to its durability over the long haul but so far so good My last fridge was a side-by-side which Ill never do again. There is so much more fridge space in bottom freezers. Tall bottles dont fit on the shelves as is but there are roomy side door shelves that hold them just fine. If you want to fit a 12-pack of beer bottles you might have to adjust the main glass shelves. Love the wide drawer for cheese and snacks. Its a beautiful fridge and no problem cleaning fingerprints at all. Glad I got this one.
